★ The Transformative Power of the Internet

Chris Dixon on why the Internet will keep growing and transform everything we know:

The modern economy runs primarily on information, and the Internet is by orders of magnitude the greatest information mechanism ever invented.  [...]

Predicting the future of the Internet is easy: anything it hasn’t yet dramatically transformed, it will. People, companies, investors and even countries can’t stop this transformation. The only choice you have is whether you join the side of innovation and progress or you don’t.

The new flows of Information enabled by the Internet are going to transform every aspect of our world, all the way from our intimacies to our economies to our political systems.

Also worth thinking about is that beyond this direct impact, we are just starting to grasp the side effects on ourselves, for instance on how connectedness is changing us.
